Does Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, have information on Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden? Former President Donald Trump seems to think he might.
Speaking to Just the News in an interview, President Trump cited the case of Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina, the wife of a former Mayor of Moscow who provided $3.5 million to a company co-owned and founded by Hunter Biden at the time that her husband was the Mayor of Moscow.
Speaking on that situation, Trump said that Putin needs to release whatever information he has on it, saying:
“She gave him $3.5 million so now I would think Putin would know the answer to that. I think he should release it. I think we should know that answer.”
Trump again brought up that point later in the interview, saying:
“How is it that the mayor of Moscow, his wife gave the Biden family three and a half million dollars? I think Putin now would be willing to probably give that answer. I’m sure he knows.”
Other than saying “I’m sure he knows”, however, Trump didn’t offer any evidence that Putin does in fact have dirt, or perhaps even exculpatory information about Joe Biden’s son. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t. We’ll only know for sure if he accedes to former President Trump’s request and releases something about Hunter: until then it will remain up in the air.
Just the News, reporting on another concern about Hunter Biden’s connections to Eastern European oligarchs, said that:
Trump said he also would like to know more about Hunter Biden’s relationship with Ukrainian oligarch Nikolai Zlochevsky, the owner of the Burisma Holdings gas company that hired the Biden scion in 2014 to its board and paid him hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.
At the time, the State Department considered Burisma to be a corrupt company that made bribes to Ukrainian officials and viewed Hunter Biden’s relationship as having created the appearance of a conflict of interest because his father, then Vice President Joe Biden, oversaw U.S.-Ukraine policy.
A memo obtained by Just the News in January of this year also revealed that senior State officials were warned that Hunter Biden’s dealing in the country had undercut U.S. anticorruption policies.
"Now, you won’t get the answer from Ukraine,” Trump lamented, referring to his 2020 impeachment over seeking Ukraine’s help investigating the Bidens’ business dealing.
That Ukraine point is a big one, particularly now that America is getting increasingly involved in defending the country. Is it proper for the US to be involved when Burisma, one of the Ukraine’s major companies, was sending the big bucks to Hunter? At the very least there is the appearance of impropriety.
However, Hunter also appears to have taken money from at least one Russian, Yelena Baturina, so doing anything would have the appearance of impropriety. That’s what happens when you fly around the world collecting money based on your name, or let your son do the same.
