Since the initial reports of the coronavirus outbreak, President Trump has been ruthlessly mocked by the media for his response to the pandemic.
Forget the fact that he's handled everything spectacularly and made key decisions early on that saved many American lives.
The "fake news" media will stop at nothing to try to take down Trump.
Among all the lies they've told, there is one fake news narrative that really caught hold with the left and has been peddled non-stop.
I'm referring of course to Dems claiming Trump completely shut down a special office within the National Security Council focused on protecting us from pandemics.
The story got even more steam when an Obama-era holdover wrote a piece for the Washington Post titled, "I ran the White House pandemic office. Trump closed it."
In the piece she claimed that her unit was completely shut down in May 2018, and she strongly suggested that because of this our government was completely unprepared for the coronavirus pandemic.
Well, turns out it was all a lie, and now we have proof.
A man named Tim Morrison, who was formerly the senior director of counterproliferation and biodefense at the NSC under President Trump, has come forward to set the record straight.
He published a piece in response to the lefts baseless claims, and titled it “No, the White House didn’t ‘dissolve’ its pandemic response office. I was there.”
In his piece Morrison stated, "Because I led the very directorate assigned that mission, the counterproliferation and biodefense office, for a year and then handed it off to another official who still holds the post, I know the charge is specious.”
He went on to say that the "tendentious accusations" that Trump had closed the pandemic office were made because it was an election year and politics rule everything.
Morrison did say that Trump made cuts to the bloated NSC, but they did not do away with entire segments. They were necessary cuts that helped make the organization more streamlined and effective.
Completely contrary to the media's claims, Morrison pointed out that Trump has actually made moves during his time in office to strengthen America's defenses against biological threats like COVID-19.
Well there you have it.
I'm so sick of the left playing their pathetic political games during a time of crisis. It causes us all to be less safe. Why? Because our public officials are focused on politics, rather than working on the real issue at hand.
