Without question, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is a very good Democrat.
What she’s not, however, is a very good human being.
For months, while tens of millions of Americans either teetered on unemployment or were tossed out of work because of COVID-19 restrictions placed (and then perpetuated) largely by tyrants in her party, she held up one coronavirus relief package after another.
And she didn’t do it ‘for the people.’ She did it purely for political power.
In a press conference on Friday, she was asked by CNN correspondent Manu Raju why she suddenly is willing to deal with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on a $900 billion coronavirus relief package after refusing to accept anything less than $2.2 trillion all summer long while Americans struggled financially (and she talked about her expensive ice cream on a late-night show).
Specifically, Raju asked if she thought it was a “mistake” to not have made a deal sooner (because Democrats lost a lot of House seats on Election Day).
Instead of answering straight away, she scolded Raju for claiming it was a mistake in the first place while informing him that it was a “strategy” – meaning, she intentionally held off on making a deal (and for political reasons).
"Pelosi for months has said she wouldn’t accept half-a-loaf on stimulus - but now they’re looking at a $900 billion deal after [sic] Pelosi had been pushing for $2.2 trillion. So I asked her if it were a mistake not to accept half-a-loaf months ago. 'It was not a mistake,' she shot back," he tweeted, adding her full statement.
“It was not a mistake, it was a decision that has taken us to a place where we can do the right thing without other, shall we say, considerations in the legislation that we don’t want.”
Translation: ‘Our guy won the presidential election so now we’re good.’ (We’ll see if that turns out to be the case, though).
Still not convinced? She also said at the same presser, “What was then before was not more than this. This has simplicity. It's what we've had in our bills. It's for a shorter period of time but that's okay now because we have a new president.”
She added: “With a Democratic president, committed to a scientific solution for this, with the idea, we will have a vaccine, it's a complete game-changer from them.”
Yes, well, we have a vaccine for COVID because of President Donald Trump and his “Operation Warp Speed” initiative. Actually, we have two, and in record time.
As for Pelosi, it is patently obvious from this travesty she couldn’t care less about ‘the little people’ so long as she gets a bigger piece of the power pie.
What is really a mystery is why Americans put up with this political abuse.
